چکیده
Abstract In the two-phase scenario of galaxy formation, a galaxy’s stellar mass growth is first dominated by in-situ star and subsequently accretion. We analyze radial distribution accreted in ∼500 galaxies from (48 Mpc/ h ) 3 box volume hydrodynamical cosmological simulation Magneticum, stellar-mass range 10 to 12 M ⊙ . find that higher-mass have larger fractions, as found previous works, but predict generally higher accretion fractions for low-mass galaxies. Based on 3D components, we define six classes, completely dominated, measure transition radii between accretion-dominated regions reveal transition. About 70% our one radius. However, about 10% are everywhere, 13% two radii, with center outskirts both being dominated. show these classes strongly correlated merger histories, especially cold gas fraction at time merging. high total (low accretion) be associated smaller, lower-mass galaxies, lower central dark-matter radii. Finally, dips observed surface brightness profiles seen many early-type do not correspond regions, any inferred indicative true contain information galaxies’ dry-merger history.

Mountains on Neutron Stars : Accreted vs . Non - Accreted
The aim of this paper is to compare the two cases of an isolated neutron star, with a non-accreted crust, and that of an accreting neutron star, with an accreted crust, and try to estimate which one of the two would make a better source of gravitational waves. In order to do this we must evaluate the maximum " mountain " that the crust can sustain in these two cases. We first do this using the ...
متن کاملSpreading of Accreted Material on White Dwarfs
When a white dwarf (WD) is weakly magnetized and its accretion disk is thin, accreted material first reaches the WD’s surface at its equator. This matter slows its orbit as it comes into corotation with the WD, dissipating kinetic energy into thermal energy and creating a hot band of freshly accreted material around the equator. Radiating in the extreme-ultraviolet and soft X-ray, this material...

Gilles Chabrier1, Alexander Y. Potekhin2;1;3, and Dmitry G. Yakovlev2 ABSTRACT The relationships between the e ective surface temperature Te and internal temperature Tb of nonmagnetized neutron stars with and without accreted envelopes are calculated for Te > 5 104 K. We use updated equations of state and radiative opacities, and we improve considerably the electron conductive opacity. We exami...
متن کاملMicroorganisms in the accreted ice of Lake Vostok, Antarctica.
Analysis of a portion of Vostok ice core number 5G, which is thought to contain frozen water derived from Lake Vostok, Antarctica (a body of liquid water located beneath about 4 kilometers of glacial ice), revealed between 2 x 10(2) and 3 x 10(2) bacterial cells per milliliter and low concentrations of potential growth nutrients. Lipopolysaccharide (a Gram-negative bacterial cell biomarker) was...
متن کاملThe Source of Mass Accreted by the Central Black Hole in Cooling Flow Clusters
This paper reports the study of the cold-feedback heating in cooling flow clusters. In the cold-feedback model the mass accreted by the central black hole originates in non-linear over-dense blobs of gas residing in an extended region (r . 5 − 30 kpc); these blobs are originally hot, but then cool faster than their environment and sink toward the center. The intra-cluster medium (ICM) entropy p...
